Community in School
Monroe County Schools is pleased to announce that we will officially be a Communities in School county. The First Lady and Governor Jim Justice started Communities in Schools in three counties in 2018 and it has grown to 33 participating counties. Communities in School is a not-for-profit education initiative that forges community partnerships and brings resources into schools with a goal of keeping all students in school and ultimately graduating. We are thrilled to have hired three site coordinators for each school location. Please, join us in welcoming these folks as we embark on this amazing opportunity-JMHS,Todd Lusk; Peterstown PreK-8, Lezlie Baker; and MVS, Brandon Eggleston. These folks attended the CIS Student Support Institute at the Stonewall Jackson Resort in Roanoke, WV. They are pictured with Kristina Jones the spokesperson for Guardian Lane, a program designed to help support grieving children that experience the loss of a loved one during the school year. We are looking forward to the good things that will come from this program and all the benefits our students will receive. #WVEd
