Kicking off the Hour of Code and Computer Science Education Week

Today, third, fourth, and fifth graders at Peterstown PK8 had a special guest.  Computer programmer, Christie Trent who lives in the Charleston, WV joined the students live via Zoom. Christie taught herself to write computer programs in 1999 and has been developing software applications for over 20 years. She works from home and develops computer programs for businesses worldwide, including the US Navy, Marines, Department of Veterans Affairs, Higher Education, the medical industry, car dealerships, and moreOne of her current projects is an application for doctors to collect and share information about clinical trials and medical research for cancer and other illnesses.

The students learned about her job, how she got started, what she likes about it, and what she does.  They asked her some great questions too!
