James Monroe High School is hosting a spring Car Show on May 20th from 12pm-3pm. The MOCO Car Show is the perfect place for any car enthusiast or supporter of James Monroe High School. Food, games, music, and more will all be provided, making this year's event fun for everyone. Ms. Parker’s 8th grade language arts class just finished the novel, “The Adventures of Ulysses”. They were given 7 options to engage in a fun and interactive project to round out the unit. As you can see it was tasty and educational! #WVEd

James Monroe sophomore Natalie Broyles was accepted into the WV Governor’s School of the Arts for summer 2023. Natalie will represent Monroe County for three weeks at Marshall University where she will grow her expertise and explore other area of the arts. You may recognize Natalie from the Marching Mavericks as their featured dancer in the 2022 season.

Attention high school students and parents: Registration is now open for fall online college courses. The cost of these courses is covered by Monroe County Schools. Please contact the guidance counselors at JMHS to register before these fill up. This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain college credits at no cost to families!

The Monroe County Board approved adding a lawn care/landscaping program at Monroe County Technical Center for the 2023-2024 school year. Please ask counselors for course registration if you are interested.

Parents, this is a reminder that Monroe County Schools spring break will begin on Monday, April 3rd and students will return on Tuesday, April 11th. This is a week earlier than normal because juniors will be taking the SAT on April 12th. Everyone has an enjoyable break!

Monroe County School Nurse Jessie Thomas is proud to share with you all that they have upgraded their emergency boxes county wide to include Stop The Bleed kits, stock epinephrine, Naloxone, and other emergency supplies to have readily available per policy for all needs they may encounter.
