James Monroe High School Seniors will be hosting a hot dog dinner before the boy’s basketball sectional champion game (March 3) to help raise money for their senior trip, senior picnic, and other senior events. The dinner will begin at 5:30. The meal will have two hotdogs, chips, a drink and cookies. The price of each plated meal is $7.00 Please come out and support our senior Mavericks!

Kiddie Fair


MCTC’s JROTC cadets competed in the state air rifle match today. Team scores are unavailable at this time. Matthew Heller earned a silver medal and Caleb Cooper earned a bronze medal for their individual scores.




James Monroe Harvard Model UN students were recognized on the Senate floor today in Charleston.

The dinner will begin at 5:30. The meal will have two hotdogs, chips, a drink and cookies. The price of each plated meal is $7.00 Please come out and support our senior Mavericks!

As a reminder, Monroe County Schools are open and on regular schedule tomorrow, February 20 but students will not be attending on Wednesday, February 22 due to a Professional Learning day for staff.

Congratulations to the James Monroe Academic Showdown team! They placed first in the Regional Tournament at Concord University! They will compete at the state tournament on March 31st in Charleston.


8th grade science students at PMS tested out some engineering skills by constructing newspaper towers. They had to stand up to winds from a high velocity fan.





PES had a Friday surprise this morning for breakfast. They had hot chocolate and it was delicious.






Ashley William's homeroom started building their first LEGO robot using the Spike Prime and Spike Essentials kits. They worked in 4 groups with about 5 students in each. Each group got to pick which robot/model project they wanted to build. They followed the step-by-step instructions to build the model. The motor connects by Bluetooth to the Chromebook, and they use block coding to control it. These Legos were a grant from Collins Aerospace,



We are always helping students work toward building their future. Mrs. Annette job trained our new secretary for PES today. Kade is going to do great things!
